Stephen Waters was armed with a handgun when he attempted to rob a Rotherham Costcutter.
A man who attempted to rob a supermarket armed with a handgun in Wath-Upon-Dearne has been jailed for 40 months.
Steven Waters, 39, of Beauchamp Road, Kimberworth, entered the Costcutter supermarket in Church Street 1 May and demanded money.
He was chased out of the store by the employee, and fled the scene in a car, which later broke down on College Road and recovered by police.
Waters pled guilty to all offences after police traced him back from the vehicle.
