Meet The Team

  • Joshua Smith 'Head Of News'

I graduated as a Journalist in 2016, and began work for the BBC. Alongside this I freelanced as a Newsreader for several stations, including Peak FM in Chesterfield and Pulse in Bradford.

I have two Children, Rory and Elowyn. Rory wants to go into radio himself (my fault!) whilst Ella frequently contributes to my work by babbling whilst the mic is live (she is only a baby to be fair).
When I'm not on air I'm usually on holiday, probably in Cornwall, or out for a walk in the Peak District. On Saturdays you'll often find me at a Non League football ground.

It's a pleasure to serve this community. Local news and local radio has never been so important, and it's something I'm proud to be a part of.

  • Holly Bacon

Holly is a creative media student who lives in the Peak District. As well as having experience in radio, Holly has written a number of pieces for local papers.

She is sport mad. At the weekend (and most Tuesday nights) you’ll find her reporting on live football. She is a huge music fan (especially of ska and indie) and likes attending gigs and festivals.

  • Matthew Rhodes

Matthew Rhodes is from Chesterfield originally and has lived in Sheffield for the past eight years. He lives with his fiancée Georgie, his daughter Isabelle and his cat Shiro.

As well as news reading/gathering for radio, Matthew also works for Derbyshire Media Company and Spire Radio covering Matlock Town. He also writes for the non-league magazine, For The Love Of The Game, and provides Matlock Town's official social media updates while a match is in progress.

Matthew is a huge Chesterfield and Aston Villa fan. He also enjoys going running, reading and going to the pub (when they're open!)
