SYP officers support the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort

15 officers travelled from South Yorkshire to London.

"Working alongside officers from across the country at an historic and monumental event is a privilege and we’re extremely proud of our officers who carried out their duties in London as part of the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

Officers from our response teams, neighbourhood teams, and Operational Support Unit travelled to London as part of the 29,000 police officers from across the UK to support the celebrations in the capital.

From across our districts 15 officers travelled from South Yorkshire to London.

Motorcycle officers Sergeant Sam Clifford and PCs Craig Sharratt, John Porter and Iain Nelson ensured the safe movement of the Bangladesh Prime Minister Shikh Hasina.

Response Sergeant Simon Pickering and PCs Ben Child, Jason Butcher, Simon Ellis, Sam Pearson, Emily Canning, Neighbourhood Officer PC David Stacey and Roads Policing Officer Brett Small supported the policing and safety of the visitors to the city.

Sergeant Jon Simpson, and PCs Karen Stebel and Andy House were also selected to work as route liners along the length of the King’s Coronation procession.

The Coronation was watched and attended by millions of people, an historical event in all our lives. We are extremely proud of the part our officers played in the operation and ensuring everyone celebrated safely.

Being a police officer is an extremely challenging but rewarding job. To see our officers instilled with such professionalism serving their country creates pride in our force."
